What is the AI Playground?

An open-ended creative space where learners invent stories, creatures, codes, and games with Ren or Mira.

A place to make things with AI

The Playground is an open-ended chat where learners create rather than consume. Ren or Mira works alongside the learner to invent stories and poems, creatures built for extreme places, secret codes, imaginary sports, museum exhibits, new planets, and machines that probably should not exist.

There is no score and no right answer. The character tends to add a constraint, a twist, or a dare so the next idea is harder than the last one.

Who can use it

The Playground is available to signed-in learners aged 13 and over. Accounts registered as under 13 do not see the Playground and cannot open it. Everything else on Big Thinkers, including courses and lessons, is unaffected.

Opening the Playground

Select Playground in the main navigation, or the Playground tab along the bottom of the screen on a phone. In the native mobile app, the tab opens the Playground in your browser.

An empty chat suggests a few starting ideas as buttons. Select one, or type your own into What do you want to create?

Your character

The Playground uses the same character you picked during onboarding, so Ren or Mira carries the same personality here as in lessons. You can switch characters at any time from the Preferences tab in Settings, and the Playground follows your choice.

What it will not do

Ren and Mira are creative partners, not general-purpose homework bots. They will not:

  • Ask you for personal details such as your full name, address, phone number, school, or email
  • Give medical, legal, or financial advice
  • Take part in romantic or sexual conversations

Replies come back as plain text without links, so nothing leads a learner out of the app.
